  • 1 Bauli Panettone
  • 1 glass of 40° rum
  • 1 glass of water
  • 120 g sugar
  • 1 organic or untreated orange
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 15 g anise seeds

  1. Prepare an aromatic infusion by bringing water, sugar, cinnamon, orange rind and anise seeds to a boil. Let it cool.
  2. Pour the mixture into a bowl and add the rum.
  3. Cover with cling film and let infuse in the fridge for at least 24 hours.
  4. Cut the Panettone into square slices.
  5. Brush each slice with the sieved infusion and place one on top of the other in an irregular fashion.
  6. Dust with icing sugar and serve.

Chef's tip

If you prefer, serve this dessert with a spoonful of chantilly crème or whipped cream.

Serve at the end of a meal or in the afternoon on its own as a dessert.

Wine selection

Serve with a sweet dessert wine such as Moscato or Passito, or eat it while sipping a little rum.

The hard and extremely fragrant anise seeds have digestive, soothing and astringent properties. Make sure you always buy them whole and never pre-ground to prevent the essential oils from losing their smell, taste and properties.
