Mozzarella in carrozza: your new favourite Italian recipe!

  • 8 slices of sliced bread
  • 200 g fresh mozzarella
  • 4 slices of ham
  • 100 g mushrooms
  • milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 shallot
  • olive oil
  • thyme
  • breadcrumbs
  • salt and pepper


For 4 people. Chop up the shallot and simmer with a tiny bit of oil. Then add the sliced mushrooms and stir-fry for some minutes. Add salt, pepper and thyme. Allow to cool. Cut the crusts from the sliced bread. The, cut the drained mozzarella into slices. Beat the eggs together with salt and pepper. Put the sandwich together with a slice of bread, a slice of ham, mozzarella and mushrooms with another slice of bread at the top. Continue until you run out of ingredients! Pour some milk on a plate and soak the sandwiches. Put them in the eggs and finally in the breadcrumbs. Finally, place on a baking stray covered with baking paper and cook at 200° for 15 minutes. Take your mozzarella in carrozza out of the oven and serve right away.
